Mahalunge’s growth is not accidental — it is the product of a formal town-planning scheme, a shared border with a national sports venue, and, most recently, a large listed developer’s land bet.
A funded township plan
The Mahalunge-Maan Town Planning Scheme covers 250.26 hectares with ₹616.9 crore in approved infrastructure spend — 18.82 km of new roads, 1,648 smart streetlights and 13,000 trees, with roughly 510 plots and 5,800 beneficiaries finalised as of late 2023. Like most PMRDA infrastructure projects, expect phased, sometimes delayed delivery rather than a single completion date.
A national sports venue in its backyard
The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex — the stadium most people associate with neighbouring Balewadi — is formally address-registered in Mahalunge. It is a detail most listings miss, but it puts an 8-lane athletics stadium, an aquatics centre and a badminton hall within the same postal area as these projects.
